As a kid I was overweight and blind in one eye. I didn’t get picked for the teams or for the cool opportunities. As a youngster that was pretty crushing. Rather than dwell on the negative, I decided to focus my energy on other things. That led me to becoming a reader, which made me curious about everything.
Curiosity about computing led to a computer startup which quickly sold to American Airlines and led me to a twenty-year career there in marketing and I.T. Curiosity about this new thing called ‘the internet’ led me to nurture a small department in my area into Travelocity.com and take it public. It was a $1.2 Billion-dollar business.
Curiosity about what might be next led to co-founding a totally new travel model at Kayak.com. Another industry changing startup - my 2nd billion- dollar business.
Now as a keynote speaker, author and expert on innovation I’m so grateful I get to help large corporations understand how to take simple ideas and turn them into viable business products by teaching employees the secrets of innovation.
